Ubiquitous Open Platform Forum

UOPF Has Established Technical Specifications and Other Outcomes and Releases Them
- Achievement of extension purposes for forum activities -

 Ubiquitous Open Platform Forum (UOPF: 55 member companies as of the end of March) has established outcomes, such as the technical specifications and reference guides, and releases all of them to the public.

 UOPF has been working to establish an open common standard that provides user-friendly, easy, and safe information appliances powered by broadband regardless of specific ISPs or consumer-electronics manufacturers. UOPF has released the outcomes, such as technical specifications and reference guides, brought about by the effort. After having achieved the original purpose, we at UOPF have extended the term for activities to establish the outcomes based on the redefined scope.

 Including the revision and integration, we have established a total of 30 outcomes (22 technical specifications and 8 reference guides) (Attachment 1).
 The outcomes will be released in as follows:

   Any corporate body or individual can apply for information on the official site.

 With the release of these outcomes, UOPF has finished activities to create specifications and reference guides. Hereafter, we will start working to promote the released outcomes.

Ubiquitous Open Platform Forum (UOPF)
 UOPF was established by a group of 14 ISPs and consumer-electronics manufacturers on February 10, 2004. The aim was to provide user-friendly, easy, and safe Information appliances powered by broadband regardless of specific ISP or consumer-electronics manufacturers from the user’s perspective and to create a new market. UOPF goals are as follows:
