UOPF Makes a New Start to Promote Outcomes

 Ubiquitous Open Platform Forum (UOPF) has been working to establish an open common standard that provides user-friendly, easy, and safe information appliance powered by broadband regardless of the specific ISP or consumer-electronics manufacturer. UOPF has released outcomes, such as technical specifications and reference guides, brought about by the effort. After we at UOPF extended our activities in 2006, we achieved the desired objectives for 30 outcomes (22 technical specifications and 8 reference guides), and we have released the outcomes at the forum home page:

 As the result of discussions about future directions in the forum, the latest UOPF general meeting (April 19, 2007) approved the extension of forum activities for another two years (until 2008). The new goals decided at the meeting are the following:

 As we have already reported, in conjunction with participation in the Home Networking Work Group (HNWG) in the Next Generation IP Network Promotion Forum as an observer, UOPF continues to promote forum outcomes.

 Ubiquitous Open Platform Forum (UOPF)
 UOPF was established by a group of 14 ISPs and consumer-electronics manufacturers on February 10, 2004. The aim was to provide user-friendly, easy, and safe Information appliances powered by broadband regardless of specific ISP or consumer-electronics manufacturers from the user’s perspective and to create a new market. UOPF goals are as follows:
